Project Description:
Life on the streets exposes kids to a wide range of illnesses and disease. Most of those youth can’t do a thing about it and suffer the consequences of having no options for treatment. $2500 provides 200 homeless kids with of basic medical, dental and prescription coverage for one month. We call it healing from the inside out. Basic health is a foundation for basic life transformation. Your action today starts with physical health but truly extends to the hope and love that kids need.
Project Background:
StandUp For Kids Oceanside serves homeless & at-risk youth and young adults, ages 13-25 from our outreach center Monday through Thursday from 5:30-8:30 pm. It is estimated that North San Diego County has an average of 3000 kids on the streets each night. StandUp For Kids works to stabilize the lives of these kids and through this healthcare program they will gain access to services needed to live a healthy productive life – services that are often taken for granted in our everyday lives. By being exposed to a supportive environment and having access to crucial resources, the youth will be empowered to make changes in their own lives.
